Using the Inspirational Landscapes methodology as a starting point, Context prepared a framework designed to provide a national comparative basis for the assessment of wildflower display aesthetics. Extensive register searches were combined with consultation with wildflower experts to develop a list of potential locations, and selected examples were then assessed using a wide range of sources – publications, snapshots, art and literary sources, tourism literature and more. Wildflower displays in the Fitzgerald River Ravensthorpe Range area (W.A.) were assessed to test the methodology. This area had been nominated to the National Heritage List, and the nomination referred to wildflowers.
