Context Pty Ltd, 2015. Uiver Collection Significance Assessment. Report for Albury Library Museum.
The Albury Library Museum hold a very interesting heritage collection of almost 300 objects that relate to Uiver – an aircraft that completed the London to Melbourne MacRobertson International Centenary Air Race of 1934 in quite remarkable conditions, when the Albury community banned together in support of an emergency landing while the world watched on. The Uiver story today holds a special place in the hearts of many people in both Albury and further afield.
The Collection was found to hold historical, associative, aesthetic, social, research, rarity and representativeness heritage significance to the state of NSW when assessed against the Heritage Council of NSW’s Criteria for Listing on the State Heritage Register, and National significance according to the Collections Council of Australia’s Significance 2.0 A Guide to Assessing the Significance of Collections. Based on these findings by Context, the Albury City Council nominated the Uiver Collection to the State Heritage Register for NSW for consideration, and it was added in 2017.
