Working with the Murri (Aboriginal), Greek and local communities, Chris worked closely with Peter Marquis -Kyle (Allom Lovell Marquis-Kyle) to understand the multiple layers of connections to Musgrave Park. Interviews and meetings combined with historical research helped uncover deeply held Murri connections to Musgrave Park as Country. Greek community connections dated from the post Second World War period and represented a public celebration of culture and community. Testing of our preliminary results at a broadly-based community workshop revealed a strong and coherent community understanding about the values of Musgrave Park, and respect for the Murri connections as paramount. The result, a Conservation Plan, was adopted by the Brisbane City Council. Assertion of Murri people’s rights continues at Musgrave Park.
