Context completed a Heritage Interpretation Strategy for Lendlease for Melbourne Quarter, a new precinct in Docklands located on the site known as Batman’s Hill. The place has significant associations with Melbourne’s Traditional Owners and the founding of the Melbourne settlement, as well as long associations with the city’s industrial development. Working closely with historians Way Back When and designer Corinne Balaam, Context undertook detailed historical research and consultation with the three Traditional Owner groups recognised at that time, and other local community organisations, to understand their perspectives and values and reflect these in the thematic framework.

The Interpretation Strategy includes the framework of themes, a selection of narratives and recommendations for interpreting heritage through a range of approaches including landscape design, wayfinding, public art, place naming, community engagement and branding. It also includes specific guidelines for place-naming and preliminary concepts for the heritage registered wall on Flinders Street. The Strategy is one of several strategic documents guiding the next stages of project planning and design for the precinct. [Context Pty Ltd]
