As a major twentieth century metropolitan cemetery Fawkner Memorial Park is on the Victorian Heritage Register and the development of policy and an implementation plan was needed for its management. The project involved writing a new thematic history, extensive site and arboricultural surveys, consultation with Traditional Owners and wider community engagement in order to establish a full range of heritage values. Social value research included an online survey, focus groups/workshops and interviews, plus drawing on previous research on community associations.
