Context facilitated community engagement on the construction of a second Murray crossing. Through a workshop, community members provided starting points to VicRoads for the design of the crossing, based on their connections to place, to the river, the landscape, the towns, their communities and their history.
Context conducted consultations on-site and ran activities to stimulate thought on the physical, cultural and personal attributes of the space. Participants then worked in facilitated groups to complete a mapping exercise aimed at capturing the meaning of place; its stories, identity and connections.
By involving community members in the creative design process alongside VicRoads staff, the Echuca-Moama Community Heritage and Design Workshop enabled VicRoads to integrate valuable community vision into their design plans, thereby helping to ensure a positive outcome for community as well.
