This professional development course was designed and developed by Chris Johnston (Context) and presented through the Institute for Professional Practice in Heritage and the Arts (ANU) in April 2012. The course addressed two key heritage values – social and aesthetic – each of which requires that heritage professionals engage with communities and use well-designed social research methods that are sensitive to each community setting. The training workshop included presentations by noted experts Dr Denis Byrne, Dr Sandy Blair, Nicholas Hall, Steve Brown and Chris Johnston.
