Symbolic and potent, Anzac Parade is a significant element in Canberra’s designed landscape. For those with personal, family and community connections to Anzac Parade, this place is filled with memories and meanings. Context provided the assessment of social and community-held aesthetic values, using a combination of research and focus groups. A new and rich understanding of these aspects of significance resulted. Policies were then developed, and integrated into the overall Heritage Management Plan, developed by Duncan Marshall, principal consultant on this project. Consultation on the draft Plan confirmed the analysis of significance and the appropriateness of the policies.
