Sunshine Municipal Offices, once a focus of local government activity, had been replaced by new offices when Context was invited to prepare advice on the likely social significance of the northern garden area. The study was prompted by Planning Scheme Amendment (C126) and two community submissions asserted strong community connections to the garden area. Our research indicated that that the northern garden area at the former Sunshine Municipal Offices is not of social significance at the local level for the Sunshine community, the staff community or any visiting community. Any significance attributed to the northern garden area appears to have been diminished for those with the longest associations because of the decline in the maintenance of the garden area.
